Edelmiro Txaran's late challenge caught a Deportivo Messina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edelmiro Txaran helped the player get up and apologised. Edelmiro Txaran hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Vasco in the 16th minute of play forced Vinará FC's goalkeeper Hugo Nazario to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonel Pancho during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 19th match minute, Deportivo Messina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel Pancho to maneuver through the defense. Bernardino Santxol made in the 32nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Edelmiro Txaran. Hugo Nazario showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leandro Vasco in the 35th minute of the match. Deportivo Messina's Mauricio Cordarrell quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Bernardino Santxol, made in the 37th minute of the game. Danilo Orlan charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Danilo Orlan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 44 played minutes Deportivo Messina got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Pancho. Hugo Nazario made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leandro Vasco in the 48th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Hugo Nazario showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacobo Cortez, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 59 minutes into the game, Edelmiro Txaran threw the ball into play from the sideline. Deportivo Messina's Leonel Pancho quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a defensive mix-up in Vinará FC's zone, Eduardo Araoz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hugo Nazario came out of the goal and Eduardo Araoz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Vinará FC defense, Fabian Rodas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hugo Nazario. The Vinará FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hugo Nazario should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eduardo Araoz in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugo Nazario prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Fabian Rodas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Araoz in the 83rd minute of play forced Vinará FC's goalkeeper Hugo Nazario to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There was no doubt that Deportivo Messina were the better team. Deportivo Messina's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
