After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Messina's zone, Justo Romo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Javier Roderigo came out of the goal and Justo Romo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Club Sportivo Italiano getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Cauan Custódio hit a great ball. Jesus Frichoso might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Javier Roderigo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jesus Frichoso ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match clock showed 10 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Justo Romo sped through Deportivo Messina's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Javier Roderigo. Javier Roderigo came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Sportivo Italiano's Justo Romo. But to his dismay, Justo Romo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After 22 minutes, Leandro Vasco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Deportivo Messina and the Club Sportivo Italiano players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Deportivo Messina getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Leandro Vasco hit a great ball. 27 minutes into the game, Jesus Frichoso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Javier Roderigo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jesus Frichoso struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Javier Roderigo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Sportivo Italiano. In the 34th minute Elvio Machado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Javier Roderigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joel Chap during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Deportivo Messina getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Joel Chap hit a great ball. In the 45th minute, Natalio Louis sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Deportivo Messina's Javier Roderigo didn't even have to move. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Deportivo Messina made a substitution. Fabian Rodas replaced Leandro Vasco. Deportivo Messina's Omar Felipo was substituted for Joel Chap. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jesus Frichoso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Omar Felipo fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo Messina's protests and gave Omar Felipo a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Deportivo Messina fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! 70 minutes into the game, Octavio Senio lined in a short shot 0-8 behind a frustrated Javier Roderigo. After a rather tough play, Club Sportivo Italiano's Natalio Louis got a free kick in the 78th minute. Javier Roderigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octavio Senio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82nd match minute, Club Sportivo Italiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Octavio Senio to maneuver through the defense. 86 minutes into the game, Octavio Senio lined in a short shot 0-10 behind a frustrated Javier Roderigo. After a rather tough play, Club Sportivo Italiano's Octavio Senio got a free kick in the 94th minute. When the match was over Club Sportivo Italiano could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Deportivo Messina throughout the match.
