After 4 minutes, Fidel Curcio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Imperio Académico and the Santa Maradona players grew even worse after the yellow card. Santa Maradona's Cristo Guillerme was substituted for Cecilio Ubarna. In the 9th minute, Arturo Abaurre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Maradona's zone, Melchor Joachim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tor Rosenlund came out of the goal and Melchor Joachim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Orlando Castulo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Tor Rosenlund when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Emilio Sugoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Tor Rosenlund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Imperio Académico's zone, Cristo Guillerme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisco Chabier came out of the goal and Cristo Guillerme tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 29th minute Melchor Joachim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tor Rosenlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orlando Castulo got free with Tor Rosenlund in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Santa Maradona booed when Imperio Académico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Sugoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francisco Chabier came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Santa Maradona's Cristo Guillerme. But to his dismay, Cristo Guillerme quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 36thth minute of the game Luis Santana who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Imperio Académico's Francisco Chabier was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Melchor Joachim in the 45th minute of play forced Santa Maradona's goalkeeper Tor Rosenlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tor Rosenlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Melchor Joachim, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Santa Maradona's Tor Rosenlund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Melchor Joachim in the 51st minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, Santa Maradona's goal looked a bit too open when Melchor Joachim came free, but Tor Rosenlund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th match minute, Santa Maradona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Octavio Txurio to maneuver through the defense. 57 minutes into the match, Santa Maradona's goal looked a bit too open when Orlando Castulo came free, but Tor Rosenlund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute of the match Imperio Académico got a corner. Santa Maradona's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Santa Maradona's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Tor Rosenlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Ondino in the 63rd minute of play. In the 64th minute Orlando Castulo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tor Rosenlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Orlando Castulo in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tor Rosenlund saved Santa Maradona from getting behind. Santa Maradona's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luis Santana in the 73rd minute. In the 77th minute, Luis Santana made a precise shot to the right of Francisco Chabier. Imperio Académico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Orlando Castulo in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tor Rosenlund saved Santa Maradona from getting behind. Tor Rosenlund stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Orlando Castulo's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. The supporters of Santa Maradona booed when Imperio Académico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Sugoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 89th minute Cristo Guillerme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Chabier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tor Rosenlund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldo Dodorol in the 95th minute of the match. The Santa Maradona supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Santa Maradona would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
