In the 7th minute, Juan Fernando Quintero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 9th minute Feliciano Jaunti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Narciso Froylan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Driussi's late challenge caught a Independiente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sebastian Driussi helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Papillon AC's Sebastian Driussi got a free kick in the 11th minute. The supporters of Papillon AC booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aldo Iruinea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Papillon AC's Timoteo Herrera got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 16 minutes into the game, Feliciano Jaunti cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Narciso Froylan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Independiente's Leo Victoro in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Pastor Bartoli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Milton Friedman in the 28th minute. Pastor Bartoli acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 28th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Octavio Dodorol. After 29 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Aldo Iruinea. Pastor Bartoli made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Olli-Pekka Suoste sent off a good shot on target. In the 33rd minute, Victorino Barea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Papillon AC's goalkeeper Narciso Froylan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leo Victoro in the 39th minute of play forced Papillon AC's goalkeeper Narciso Froylan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 44th minute, Papillon AC's Juan Fernando Quintero ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Pastor Bartoli. Pastor Bartoli yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. With 47 minutes on the clock, Victor Hug commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 46th minute, one of Independiente:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Independiente. Independiente:s Pastor Bartoli showed great skill when he stopped Timoteo Herrera:s penalty. After 49 minutes of play, Papillon AC's Timoteo Herrera made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pastor Bartoli was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Amado Pacorro was the one to do the kick off. 61 minutes into the game, Amado Pacorro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Narciso Froylan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpected shot in the 69th minute by Amado Pacorro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Leo Victoro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 73rd match minute, Papillon AC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastian Driussi to maneuver through the defense. Christian Muc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Narciso Froylan having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Papillon AC's goal looked a bit too open when Amado Pacorro came free, but Narciso Froylan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Papillon AC's Timoteo Herrera got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 88 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Milton Friedman came free, but Pastor Bartoli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Narciso Froylan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amado Pacorro in the 95th minute of the match. Leo Victoro struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Narciso Froylan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
