After a rather tough play, Atlético Bucaramanga's Silban Bonifaz got a free kick in the 8th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Atlético Bucaramanga's goal looked a bit too open when Feliberto Eyague came free, but David Ospina reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After taking down the ball on Astros de México's corner Leonides Arlo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and David Ospina quite easily take care of the ball. Antoni Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lugo Saavedra, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The Astros de México fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Astros de México's Paulo Román looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Feliberto Eyague to strike the kick off in the second half. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergio Quintero in the 64th minute of play forced Astros de México's goalkeeper Antoni Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Feliberto Eyague fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Ospina having to interfere. 72 minutes into the match, Atlético Bucaramanga's goal looked a bit too open when Feliberto Eyague came free, but David Ospina reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg David Ospina managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Astros de México's Feliberto Eyague fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. David Ospina stood somewhat misplaced when Feliberto Eyague came free in front of goal and shot 1-2 to the left of him in the 77 minute. The supporters of Atlético Bucaramanga booed when Astros de México was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Feliberto Eyague didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nabucodonosor Segundo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 80th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Antoni Lopes. Astros de México's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. David Ospina stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Feliberto Eyague's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. When Ladio Toria fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético Bucaramanga's protests and gave Ladio Toria a yellow card for diving instead. Astros de México made a substitution. Vito Quintal replaced Fernando Menendo. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Atlético Bucaramanga! The Astros de México supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Astros de México would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
