In the 3rd match minute, Nacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zenon Moyuelo to maneuver through the defense. Hugo Araya showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Macnelly Torres in the 4th minute of the match. Maurinho Arruda hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Nicolás Castillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Hugo Araya made a huge save. 8 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goal looked a bit too open when Gonzalo Carneiro came free, but Omar Duardo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 9th match minute, Vancouver Reds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Macnelly Torres to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Vancouver Reds defense, Gonzalo Carneiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Omar Duardo. The Vancouver Reds fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Omar Duardo should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolás Castillo in the 19th minute of play forced Nacional's goalkeeper Hugo Araya to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd match minute, Vancouver Reds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Love Svensson to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vancouver Reds's goalkeeper Omar Duardo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hugo Araya made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Görkem Büyükada in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Görkem Büyükada in the 28th minute of play forced Nacional's goalkeeper Hugo Araya to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicolás Castillo in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugo Araya prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Görkem Büyükada in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hugo Araya saved Nacional from getting behind. Nacional's Hugo Araya played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Görkem Büyükada in the 34th minute of play. Macnelly Torres received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hugo Araya came out and tried to block the shot, but Macnelly Torres slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 37th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Nacional's goalkeeper Hugo Araya had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Görkem Büyükada. The supporters of Nacional booed when Vancouver Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billy Oja didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Omar Duardo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gonzalo Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Joey Real's late challenge caught a Vancouver Reds's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joey Real helped the player get up and apologised. Joey Real kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolás Castillo came free, but Hugo Araya reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 65th minute, Gonzalo Carneiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vancouver Reds made a substitution. Pang Jun replaced Isiah Hinkle. 68 minutes into the match, Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Görkem Büyükada came free, but Hugo Araya reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luciano Inverso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Omar Duardo having to make a save. Hugo Araya came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Vancouver Reds's Sima Marinković. But to his dismay, Sima Marinković quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Vancouver Reds's Omar Duardo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonzalo Carneiro in the 76th minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goalkeeper Omar Duardo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luciano Inverso. Omar Duardo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonzalo Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hugo Araya made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sima Marinković in the 82nd minute of play. If Gonzalo Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 83rd minute Gonzalo Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Omar Duardo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Nacional booed when Vancouver Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Love Svensson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vancouver Reds made a substitution. Maxwell Eddy replaced Görkem Büyükada. In the 87th match minute, Vancouver Reds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Love Svensson to maneuver through the defense. Omar Duardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonzalo Carneiro in the 89th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Gonzalo Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nacional's supporters rose to their feet, but Gonzalo Carneiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Omar Duardo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Maxwell Eddy in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugo Araya prevented the ball from getting in the gole. For all the effort they put into the match, the Nacional players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vancouver Reds.
