Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nicolás Castillo to make the kick off. If Macnelly Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 57 minutes into the match, Barrio Norte FC's goalkeeper Fernán Albonico had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicolás Castillo. 58 minutes into the game, Candido Guesalaga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barrio Norte FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vancouver Reds the free kick.
