Martin Munter made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stig-Arne Skålberg in the 13th minute. AIK FOTBOLL's Elof Hedin managed to work through Hartlepool's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Elof Hedin dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Evert Dahlqvist got free with Martin Munter in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by Hartlepool's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Viggo Harlén was slow to take the kick. During this time AIK FOTBOLL's players had a chance to rest. The corner led AIK FOTBOLL's Viggo Harlén to fire away a dangerous shot which Martin Munter despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Hartlepool's Martin Munter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Hartlepool from getting a goal against them. After 19 played minutes Hartlepool got a freekick which was hit by Isac Bålström. Elof Hedin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Hartlepool's Martin Munter got control of the ball when Elof Hedin tried to sneak it across the goal line. An annoying self made goal, 1-0. After 48 minutes Hartlepool's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Viggo Harlén who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Viggo Harlén almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Hartlepool's Martin Munter did a great save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Thanks to some nice moves Fred Dalgren could shoot a difficult shot in the 51st minute, which Arne Kilström however easily saved by the left post. In the 59th minute Isac Bålström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arne Kilström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evert Dahlqvist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. AIK FOTBOLL made a substitution. Fredrik Axelsson replaced Elof Hedin. Martin Munter came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by AIK FOTBOLL's Fredrik Axelsson. But to his dismay, Fredrik Axelsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fredrik Axelsson in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Martin Munter saved Hartlepool from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carl Qvarnström in the 72nd minute of play forced AIK FOTBOLL's goalkeeper Arne Kilström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AIK FOTBOLL's defense didn't have a chance, in the 79th minute, when Isac Bålström scored to the left of an out of position Arne Kilström, making the score, 2-1. Martin Munter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fredrik Axelsson in the 82nd minute of play. After 86 minutes of play, AIK FOTBOLL's Fredrik Axelsson made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Martin Munter was left in no man's land by his defense there! 90 minutes into the game, Fredrik Axelsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Martin Munter was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Robert Hermansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Martin Munter having to make a save.
