Nicu Arghirescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicu Olăroiu in the 33rd minute of play. In the 37th minute, Valeriu Uduleanu made a precise shot to the right of Nicu Arghirescu. Club Sportiv Medgidia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. In the 45th minute, Nicu Olăroiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Club Sportiv Medgidia's Ferdinand Hidiș got a free kick in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute, Laurențiu Ciociu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Granicerul fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Nicu Arghirescu came out of the goal and Nicu Olăroiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th match minute, Club Sportiv Medgidia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liviu Alupulesei to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, Granicerul's Nicu Arghirescu threw himself towards the right post 87 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Nicu Olăroiu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Nicu Olăroiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Liviu Alupulesei charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Liviu Alupulesei the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The Granicerul supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Granicerul would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
