In the 4th match minute, Fotbal Club Vaslui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Víglundur von der Schulenburg to maneuver through the defense. 5 minutes into the game, one of Fotbal Club Vaslui:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Gigel Rânceanu, was totally fooled by UFC STEAUA's Ernest Obreja, who 7 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 21 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Aurel Halipa came free, but Felix Cosoreanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gigel Rânceanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Therkild Prendorf in the 23rd minute of the match. 23 minutes into the game, Mugurel Răduț was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fotbal Club Vaslui's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UFC STEAUA the free kick. In the 24th match minute, Fotbal Club Vaslui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugurel Răduț to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Aurel Halipa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fotbal Club Vaslui's supporters rose to their feet, but Aurel Halipa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Felix Cosoreanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fotbal Club Vaslui's Gigel Rânceanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Fotbal Club Vaslui from getting a goal against them. In the 35th minute, UFC STEAUA's Therkild Prendorf dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. After some careless play in the Fotbal Club Vaslui defense, Therkild Prendorf kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gigel Rânceanu. The Fotbal Club Vaslui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gigel Rânceanu should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Therkild Prendorf took a quick shot and it went in 5-0 without a chance for Gigel Rânceanu to make any attempt to save it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Therkild Prendorf to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Costică Mangra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigel Rânceanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gigel Rânceanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Costică Mangra's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Gigel Rânceanu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Therkild Prendorf went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. A collision led to Fotbal Club Vaslui getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Mugurel Răduț hit a great ball. Therkild Prendorf recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gigel Rânceanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Therkild Prendorf, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Mugurel Răduț was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 70 minutes had been played. Mugurel Răduț hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the game, UFC STEAUA's Therkild Prendorf nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gigel Rânceanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. Aurel Halipa hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Fotbal Club Vaslui's Aurel Halipa got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 91st match minute, Fotbal Club Vaslui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liviu Mușătescu to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Fotbal Club Vaslui defense, Therkild Prendorf kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gigel Rânceanu. The Fotbal Club Vaslui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gigel Rânceanu should have stopped the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The UFC STEAUA fans cheered their team off the field, for while Fotbal Club Vaslui had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
