The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kaarle Väätäinen kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. When Romualdas Podėris came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Savage Hippo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romualdas Podėris couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Savon Palloseura defense, Romualdas Podėris kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Niilo Myötänen. The Savon Palloseura fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niilo Myötänen should have stopped the shot. In the 12th minute Kaarle Väätäinen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Algimantas Zakaras saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the game, Savon Palloseura's Jan Kuokkanen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Algimantas Zakaras made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Algimantas Zakaras showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viljami Rajamäki, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. If Eduardas Girčius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niilo Myötänen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Romualdas Podėris went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kaarle Väätäinen to make the kick off. Romualdas Podėris fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niilo Myötänen having to interfere. In the 53rd match minute, Savage Hippo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdas Tindžiulis to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Savage Hippo's Romualdas Podėris slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Niilo Myötänen. That made the score 1-3 after 57 minutes of play. If Vytaras Liaudanskas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Savon Palloseura's Niilo Myötänen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Savon Palloseura from getting a goal against them. When Eduardas Girčius came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Savage Hippo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eduardas Girčius couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viljami Rajamäki in the 82nd minute of play forced Savage Hippo's goalkeeper Algimantas Zakaras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Savon Palloseura getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Daavid Brinck hit a great ball. Romualdas Podėris came free with the goalkeeper in the 84th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Niilo Myötänen could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jotautas Bakštys in the 87th minute of play forced Savon Palloseura's goalkeeper Niilo Myötänen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute, Jotautas Bakštys reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Niilo Myötänen. The goal made the score 1-5. When Jotautas Bakštys came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Savage Hippo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jotautas Bakštys couldn't finish the play. The Savage Hippo players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
