After some careless play in the Pheonix FC defense, Toivo Karhu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kim Steinthal. The Pheonix FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kim Steinthal should have stopped the shot. Kaarle Väätäinen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes into the match, Savon Palloseura's goal looked a bit too open when Tommy Thernøe came free, but Niilo Myötänen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leo Milandt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Niilo Myötänen having to make a save. A collision led to Pheonix FC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Arnfred Gerbom hit a great ball. In the 30th minute Heino Myllykoski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kim Steinthal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 42 played minutes Pheonix FC got a freekick which was hit by Tommy Thernøe. Risto Mäkinen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sami Nutikka kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kaarle Väätäinen was the one to do the kick off. Pheonix FC's Kim Steinthal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kaarle Väätäinen in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes into the game, Olli-Pekka Bruun cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Kim Steinthal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Pheonix FC's zone, Risto Mäkinen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kim Steinthal came out of the goal and Risto Mäkinen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Savon Palloseura's Kaarle Väätäinen in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Pheonix FC's goalie prevented a goal. If Toivo Karhu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 72 minutes into the game, Savon Palloseura's Toivo Karhu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kim Steinthal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After 83 minutes of play, Savon Palloseura's Kaarle Väätäinen made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kim Steinthal was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Savon Palloseura's Niilo Myötänen got control of the ball when Leo Milandt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Niilo Myötänen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Thernøe, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Savon Palloseura's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
