In the 6th minute of the match Tonni Dong sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Uwe Ziege skillfully saved the ball. Gunther Schößler kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuel Berghagen during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 10th minute of the match Elmar Assing sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Egil Sølve skillfully saved the ball. After 15 minutes of play, Holmkjar Hotspurs's Tonni Dong made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Uwe Ziege was left in no man's land by his defense there! 18 minutes into the match, Sascha Andre Rennert had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egil Sølve. Holmkjar Hotspurs's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sascha Andre Rennert was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. When Sascha Andre Rennert came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Rot-Weiss-Essen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sascha Andre Rennert couldn't finish the play. Tim Sundbæk kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Tonni Dong took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Uwe Ziege. Uwe Ziege dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 31 minutes into the match, Holmkjar Hotspurs's goal looked a bit too open when Ivo Claus came free, but Egil Sølve reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Ivo Claus ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Egil Sølve. Egil Sølve yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Hjalmar Blumentritt hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Tonni Dong's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Uwe Ziege was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tonni Dong in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Uwe Ziege saved Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting behind. Uwe Ziege came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Holmkjar Hotspurs's Tonni Dong. But to his dismay, Tonni Dong quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 54th play minute Tonni Dong came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Uwe Ziege. 2-4. In the 57th minute, Ivo Claus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Egil Sølve showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo Claus, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Björn Mokros scored 3-4 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Egil Sølve, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Tonni Dong kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Uwe Ziege. That made the score 3-5 in the 66 minute of play. Holmkjar Hotspurs's Reinhardt Vittenbach was substituted for Samuel Berghagen. Hjalmar Blumentritt kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Loui Bargmann reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Uwe Ziege. The goal made the score 3-6. Egil Sølve made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Claus in the 79th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Loui Bargmann kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Uwe Ziege. That made the score 3-7 in the 83 minute of play. Tonni Dong shot from long distance in the 86th minute, but Uwe Ziege was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Egil Sølve showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Björn Mokros, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. The supporters of Holmkjar Hotspurs booed when Rot-Weiss-Essen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurizio Brink didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uwe Ziege made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Vagner Vennitze sent off a good shot on target. In the 91st minute, Holmkjar Hotspurs's Vagner Vennitze dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-8. 94 minutes into the game, Kalle Bjarkmann cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-9. Uwe Ziege was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
