The referee ignored CA Boca Jrs's protests and gave Bruno Forlano a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to CA Boca Jrs getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Bruno Forlano hit a great ball. Alexis Dellios struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Emanuele Guaita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olympiacos FC. Dimitris Koudas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eustratios Vertsotis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ettore Gelsomini's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. In the 18th minute Alexis Dellios shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuele Guaita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in CA Boca Jrs's zone, Alexis Dellios stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emanuele Guaita came out of the goal and Alexis Dellios tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Olympiacos FC booed when CA Boca Jrs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Forlano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eustratios Vertsotis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Đerat Izzard, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Eustratios Vertsotis made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Daniele Ubriaco sent off a good shot on target.
