Keith Cassar was slow to take the kick. During this time Seraċini Għawdxin's players had a chance to rest. Régis Bastian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roderick Gordon in the 5th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Seychell in the 7th minute of play forced Les Pionniers de Touraine's goalkeeper Régis Bastian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jean-Pascal Berthelot hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Louis Mamo in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Régis Bastian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barnabé Dambrine in the 15th minute of play forced Seraċini Għawdxin's goalkeeper Dejan Cumbo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paul Montebello's late challenge caught a Les Pionniers de Touraine's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paul Montebello helped the player get up and apologised. After 20 played minutes Seraċini Għawdxin got a freekick which was hit by Paul Montebello. Dejan Cumbo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rachid Borgès, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 65th minute Joris Le Tiec shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dejan Cumbo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
