Fulvio Cavallaro's late challenge caught a AFC Ajax's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fulvio Cavallaro helped the player get up and apologised. 9 minutes into the game, Anthony De Laurentiis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Menios Moschogiannis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alexander Albertosi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 20 minutes, Michalis Bakakos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFC Ajax's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michalis Bakakos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 25 played minutes AFC Ajax got a freekick which was hit by Filippos Markos. Anthony De Laurentiis took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Menios Moschogiannis. AFC Ajax's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Alfonso Donato showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Akis Pinezas, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. If Akis Pinezas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Armando Pacella succeeded in the game's 36th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. 39 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Maties recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Menios Moschogiannis. Leopoldo Maties showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leopoldo Maties to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Armando Pacella ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Menios Moschogiannis was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Anthony De Laurentiis kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, Atletico Benevento's goal looked a bit too open when Akis Pinezas came free, but Alfonso Donato reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, AFC Ajax's Nontas Livaditis got a free kick in the 78th minute. After 79 played minutes Atletico Benevento got a freekick which was hit by Armando Pacella. Akis Pinezas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Alfonso Donato made a huge save. Menios Moschogiannis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Maties in the 89th minute of play. In the 94th match minute, Atletico Benevento was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony De Laurentiis to maneuver through the defense. If Akis Pinezas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Atletico Benevento were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of AFC Ajax for a fine match.
