The referee showed Leonardo Fragoso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sporting Clube Patrício booed when AD Pontassolense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Fragoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. 3 minutes into the game, Álvaro Carvalho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AD Pontassolense's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Clube Patrício the free kick. Álvaro Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristiano Garcia struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Vladimiro Barroso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Clube Patrício. Afonso Castanheira hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Reinaldo Quental could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Vladimiro Barroso made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Renato Alves in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Viriato Leal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Viriato Leal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Castanheira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 18 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube Patrício's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Castanheira came free, but Viriato Leal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristiano Garcia was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 24th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Sálvio Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 33rd minute by Silvério Amaro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Palmiro Leite hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Sporting Clube Patrício defense, Arthur Branco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Viriato Leal. The Sporting Clube Patrício fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Viriato Leal should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sálvio Sá stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Miguel Santiago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladimiro Barroso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 54 played minutes AD Pontassolense got a freekick which was hit by Cesário Sanches. Arthur Branco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 63 played minutes AD Pontassolense got a freekick which was hit by Cesário Sanches. 64 minutes into the match, AD Pontassolense's goal looked a bit too open when Cristiano Garcia came free, but Vladimiro Barroso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Renato Alves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Viriato Leal made a huge save. In the 69th minute, Leonardo Fragoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Renato Alves took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Viriato Leal. Viriato Leal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Renato Alves's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Viriato Leal firmly grabbed it by the left post. Viriato Leal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arthur Branco in the 80th minute of play. After 80 minutes of play, AD Pontassolense's Arthur Branco made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Viriato Leal was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Sporting Clube Patrício fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. AD Pontassolense were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
