But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arno Maerschalks couldn't finish the play. Ferdi Dekens's late challenge caught a Ad Fundum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ferdi Dekens helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Zijdewind SC's Ferdi Dekens got a free kick in the 5th minute. Zijdewind SC's Melvin Woering played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roni Ravoet in the 6th minute of play. If Mathieu-Maxim Van Baerlem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Franky Gallot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Gulpen, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Melvin Woering showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mathieu-Maxim Van Baerlem in the 24th minute of the match. Arno Maerschalks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arno Maerschalks got free with Melvin Woering in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Melvin Woering made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jose Van Gertsuyden in the 36th minute of play. Melvin Woering made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Arno Maerschalks sent off a good shot on target. In the 42nd minute, Billy Straetmans reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Melvin Woering. The goal made the score 2-0. In the 46th minute, Frank Gulpen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zijdewind SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arno Maerschalks to make the kick off. Zijdewind SC's attentive Henry Lembeck managed to snatch the ball when Corneel Van Caels made a throw-in in the 67th minute of the game. Bram Masculier kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Frank Gulpen struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Franky Gallot didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zijdewind SC.
