When Armand Owerckx fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Ouagadougou National's protests and gave Armand Owerckx a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes FC Ouagadougou National got a freekick which was hit by Armand Owerckx. Alkestis Stasinopoulos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noel Imbreghts in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Noel Imbreghts in the 23rd minute of play forced FC Stadtclub's goalkeeper Alkestis Stasinopoulos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FC Stadtclub booed when FC Ouagadougou National was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeremie Sterkx didn't get a good kick on the ball. Noel Imbreghts might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alkestis Stasinopoulos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Noel Imbreghts ran back to his position shaking his head. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Jochen Ziegler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
