Divina Comédia FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Betão Senna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Niyazi Derim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedrão Paraense in the 7th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frédson Melo in the 8th minute of play forced Divina Comédia FC's goalkeeper Rogério Ceni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes into the match, Divina Comédia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nilton Damião came free, but Rogério Ceni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Divina Comédia FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Váldson Lopes hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedrão Paraense got free with Niyazi Derim in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th minute, Divina Comédia FC's Valdir da Silva dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Rogério Ceni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betão Senna in the 23rd minute of play. Niyazi Derim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdir da Silva in the 25th minute of play. The supporters of Divina Comédia FC booed when Jabaquara SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilton Damião didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niyazi Derim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dedê Cerezo in the 29th minute. Jabaquara SC's Niyazi Derim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Jabaquara SC from getting a goal against them. Divina Comédia FC's Rogério Ceni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeu de Azevedo in the 35th minute of play. After 37 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Jabaquara SC! The goalkeeper, Niyazi Derim, was totally fooled by Divina Comédia FC's Váldson Lopes, who 40 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. With a little luck, Jabaquara SC's Niyazi Derim got control of the ball when Valdir da Silva tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Frédson Melo to strike the kick off in the second half. Romeu de Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rogério Ceni having to interfere. Frédson Melo's late challenge caught a Divina Comédia FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frédson Melo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 53rd minute, Frédson Melo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 56th minute, Jabaquara SC's Nilton Damião ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rogério Ceni. Rogério Ceni yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. After 59 minutes, Romeu de Azevedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jabaquara SC and the Divina Comédia FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 59th match minute, Jabaquara SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeu de Azevedo to maneuver through the defense. Frédson Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jabaquara SC's Niyazi Derim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedê Cerezo in the 63rd minute of play. 68 minutes into the game, Jabaquara SC's Nilton Damião nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rogério Ceni made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Romeu de Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Niyazi Derim came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Divina Comédia FC's Pedrão Paraense. But to his dismay, Pedrão Paraense quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. Rogério Ceni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilton Damião, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After having played for 80 minutes, Frédson Melo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jabaquara SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frédson Melo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Nilton Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jabaquara SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nilton Damião was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rogério Ceni breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Jabaquara SC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
