The audience thought a goal was coming when Rubinho Perez got free with Telmo Madureira in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 43rd minute, E.C 2 Janeiro RS's Walmir Brito seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Walmir Brito the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of E.C 2 Janeiro RS protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Walmir Brito had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. FORMIGÃO DE BRAGA's Ronaldão Souza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save FORMIGÃO DE BRAGA from getting a goal against them. The throw-in from Tostão Nunes in the 85th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FORMIGÃO DE BRAGA's João Francisco Barbosa. FORMIGÃO DE BRAGA's attentive Thiago Miranda managed to snatch the ball when Tostão Nunes made a throw-in in the 89th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Humberto Paes managed to get in a good position for a shot. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's supporters rose to their feet, but Humberto Paes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
