Noia's Hermínio Barros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Noia from getting a goal against them. If Alessandro Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dário Saldanha's late challenge caught a 20 DE SETEMBRO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dário Saldanha helped the player get up and apologised. Dário Saldanha hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute, Luís Guilherme Brodel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 15th minute, Luiz Guilherme Cosme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Alessandro Neves came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the 20 DE SETEMBRO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alessandro Neves couldn't finish the play. Hermínio Barros was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alessandro Neves showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 19 minute of play. After 23 played minutes Noia got a freekick which was hit by Nildo Galvão. Alessandro Neves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hermínio Barros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Hermínio Barros was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alessandro Neves showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 33 minute of play. If Alessandro Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wágner Miranda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Hermínio Barros made a huge save. In the 47th minute of the match 20 DE SETEMBRO got a corner. Noia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Clóvis Corrêa ran over to the corner to take the kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Guilherme Cosme to make the kick off. Noia's Hermínio Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Neves in the 90th minute of play. Luís Neiva hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Noia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
