Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Renato Netto in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mateus de Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 20 minutes, Renato Netto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grêmio Papão de WC and the Juventus EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee felt a red card was in order, 21 minutes into the game, when Luiz Maia put in a rough tackle. The Juventus EC fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Juventus EC's Agnaldo Trancoso looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 26 minutes into the match, Grêmio Papão de WC's goalkeeper Eduardo Miranda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Romário da Rocha. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Agnaldo Trancoso to strike the kick off in the second half.
