In the 16th match minute, Chute de Ouro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diogo Novaes to maneuver through the defense. When Ricardinho Capixaba fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chute de Ouro FC's protests and gave Ricardinho Capixaba a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Chute de Ouro FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Felippe Maranhense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Brasilino's Frank Senna got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Humberto Xavier yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
