The audience thought a goal was coming when Agostinho Domingues got free with Hélder da Silveira in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hélder da Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Araújo in the 31st minute of play. After 33 played minutes Inter Gala got a freekick which was hit by Luisinho Peixoto. In the 41st minute Amauri Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Eduardo Valle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Hélder da Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Araújo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hélder da Silveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hélder Mendes in the 86th minute of the match. Amauri Varela was shown his second yellow card after 89 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 90th match minute, F.C.
