The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Nonatos United defense, Delfim Melo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vicente Travassos. The Nonatos United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vicente Travassos should have stopped the shot. Bebeto Hermes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to União Agrícola Barbarense getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Delfim Melo hit a great ball. Conrado Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Erik da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Bebeto Hermes came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the União Agrícola Barbarense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bebeto Hermes couldn't finish the play. After having played for 31 minutes, Claudinho Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Agrícola Barbarense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudinho Damião was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nonatos United's Vicente Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bebeto Hermes in the 37th minute of play. Vicente Travassos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinho Damião in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Fabiano Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Claudinho Damião had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vicente Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bebeto Hermes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 0-5 became the score in the 48th minute when Claudinho Damião elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Claudinho Damião was the one to do the kick off. In the 62nd minute, Wesley Sousa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nonatos United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. After having played for 65 minutes, Claudinho Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Agrícola Barbarense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudinho Damião was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 67th minute, União Agrícola Barbarense's Claudinho Damião ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Vicente Travassos. Vicente Travassos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-6. 70 minutes into the match, Claudinho Damião dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vicente Travassos, 1-7. After 74 played minutes União Agrícola Barbarense got a freekick which was hit by Bebeto Hermes. In the 83rd minute, Claudinho Damião ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vicente Travassos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-8. After having played for 93 minutes, Claudinho Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Agrícola Barbarense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudinho Damião was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Claudinho Damião struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Vicente Travassos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for União Agrícola Barbarense. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Delfim Melo managed to get in a good position for a shot. União Agrícola Barbarense's supporters rose to their feet, but Delfim Melo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The União Agrícola Barbarense supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing União Agrícola Barbarense would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
