The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th match minute, Bucéfalo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nico Godoi to maneuver through the defense. Celsinho Vander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nico Godoi in the 7th minute of the match. Bucéfalo FC's Pedro Luís Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Furlan in the 9th minute of play. Celsinho Vander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nico Godoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Celsinho Vander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dadá Britto in the 14th minute of the match. Celsinho Vander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruninho Ortiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, AFC - Curitiba's goal looked a bit too open when Mazinho Damião came free, but Celsinho Vander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luiz Gustavo Fonseca helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of AFC - Curitiba booed when Bucéfalo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Gustavo Braga to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mazinho Damião got free with Celsinho Vander in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Bucéfalo FC booed when AFC - Curitiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nico Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th minute, AFC - Curitiba's Luizão Ferraz seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Luizão Ferraz the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of AFC - Curitiba protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Luizão Ferraz had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 87th minute, one of AFC - Curitiba:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for AFC - Curitiba. The referee gave Bucéfalo FC a penalty, 91 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Flavinho Braga, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of AFC - Curitiba's Celsinho Vander. 1-4. Mazinho Damião could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Celsinho Vander made a huge save. With a little luck, AFC - Curitiba's Celsinho Vander got control of the ball when Mazinho Damião tried to sneak it across the goal line.
