With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gil de Medeiros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 5th minute, Tarcisio Favoretto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Júlio Pombal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Gil de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Carlos da Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Ronaldão Mazza might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gil de Medeiros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ronaldão Mazza ran back to his position shaking his head. Gil de Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Pombal, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Júlio Pombal in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gil de Medeiros saved Nautilus from getting behind. The supporters of Milanis E.C. booed when Nautilus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laerte Tasso didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Júlio Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldão Mazza in the 28th minute of play forced Nautilus's goalkeeper Gil de Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 29 minutes of play, Milanis E.C.'s Ronaldão Mazza made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gil de Medeiros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nautilus's Gil de Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto das Neves in the 35th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Nautilus's Laerte Tasso got a free kick in the 38th minute. After some careless play in the Nautilus defense, Augusto das Neves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gil de Medeiros. The Nautilus fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gil de Medeiros should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Richard Ferreira made a kick off. Gil de Medeiros didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Júlio Pombal went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Zé Carlos da Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gil de Medeiros having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Júlio Pombal kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gil de Medeiros. That made the score 0-4 in the 58 minute of play. Milanis E.C.'s Jacinto de Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelinho de Andrade in the 61st minute of play. Júlio Pombal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Gil de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Júlio Pombal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gil de Medeiros was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Júlio Pombal couldn't finish the play. Ronaldão Mazza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gil de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Júlio Pombal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Ronaldão Mazza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Milanis E.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Ronaldão Mazza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gil de Medeiros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th minute Augusto das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gil de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Milanis E.C. left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Nautilus.
