Jorge Mendonça charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorge Mendonça the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of União Verde FC booed when A.A. Francana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cássio Viana didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 13 minutes, Laércio Damião mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the União Verde FC and the A.A. Francana players grew even worse after the yellow card. Laércio Damião kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio Damião came free, but Telmo Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gilvan Pombal struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Telmo Trigo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for União Verde FC. Jorge Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Bebeto de Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Ramos in the 22nd minute of play. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Laércio Damião sped through A.A. Francana's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Telmo Trigo. Wilton Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Bebeto de Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute Laércio Damião shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Telmo Trigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Gilvan Pombal managed to get in a good position for a shot. União Verde FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilvan Pombal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Telmo Trigo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Telmo Trigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laércio Damião, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner led União Verde FC's Vladimir Motta to fire away a dangerous shot which Telmo Trigo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Arnaldo Ramos kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Armandinho Vergílio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Laércio Damião had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Ademir Guia managed to get in a good position for a shot. União Verde FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ademir Guia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Telmo Trigo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ademir Guia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Ademir Guia fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored União Verde FC's protests and gave Ademir Guia a yellow card for diving instead. In the 67th minute, Ademir Guia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evandro Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 71 minutes into the match, Arnaldo Ramos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bebeto de Salles. União Verde FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arnaldo Ramos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Ademir Guia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Trigo having to interfere. A.A. Francana's Armandinho Vergílio got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When União Verde FC's Laércio Damião in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye A.A. Francana's goalie prevented a goal. Laércio Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Telmo Trigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 93 minutes, Serginho Alagoano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the A.A. Francana and the União Verde FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of União Verde FC booed when A.A. Francana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. A.A. Francana had won after a very even match.
