Hugo Siqueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelinho Matorin having to interfere. With a little luck, Ique Football Club's Virgílio Lima got control of the ball when José Paulo Costa tried to sneak it across the goal line. 10 minutes into the game, Ique Football Club's Christiano Matos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcelinho Matorin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Edu de Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Ique Football Club's Virgílio Lima proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Ique Football Club from getting a goal against them. João Francisco Mota took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Virgílio Lima. Virgílio Lima dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 22nd minute, José Paulo Costa reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Virgílio Lima. The goal made the score 2-1. A collision led to Ique Football Club getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Edu de Godoi hit a great ball. Virgílio Lima took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Paulo Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabiano de Amaral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Olívio Maranhense hit a great ball. Armandinho de Barros took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 34th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marcelinho Matorin. Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabiano de Amaral in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelinho Matorin saved Mexilhão F. C. from getting behind. Emerson Tavares kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Olívio Maranhense could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Virgílio Lima made a huge save. Cesinha Figueiredo kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Marcelinho Matorin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Christiano Matos went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

In the 90th minute, Christiano Matos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcelinho Matorin was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-5. The Mexilhão F. C. manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Ique Football Club to win.
