Gaston Roderigo made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Pedrinho Loureiro sent off a good shot on target. Alexsandro Xavier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcinho Fonseca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute of the match América-SC F.C. got a corner. Mamutes EC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alfredão Montenegro ran over to the corner to take the kick. 39 minutes into the match, Mamutes EC's goal looked a bit too open when Cleithon Ortiz came free, but Marcinho Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th match minute, Mamutes EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felippe Zanette to maneuver through the defense. Marcinho Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Pedro de Moraes in the 41st minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bola Forte stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Luís Henrique reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcinho Fonseca. The goal made the score 1-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 62 minutes into the game, when Luiz Pitta put in a rough tackle. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Pedro de Moraes in the 68th minute of play forced Mamutes EC's goalkeeper Marcinho Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Mamutes EC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Pedrinho Loureiro hit a great ball. In the 72nd minute, Paulo Antunes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcinho Fonseca was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Alexsandro Xavier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Marcinho Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alexsandro Xavier could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Marcinho Fonseca made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Mamutes EC's Cido Cosme got a free kick in the 88th minute. América-SC F.C.'s supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
