The America Futebol Clube SP fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when America Futebol Clube SP's Nilton Sanches looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Rômulo de Sena's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zé Pedro de Queirós read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilton Sanches in the 33rd minute of play forced Guará FC's goalkeeper Diamantino Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diamantino Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilton Sanches, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Diamantino Catarinense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilton Sanches in the 36th minute of the match. Rômulo de Sena's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Zé Pedro de Queirós firmly grabbed it by the left post. After the first half America Futebol Clube SP were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nilton Sanches to make the kick off. America Futebol Clube SP's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Agostinho Rossi in the 53rd minute. The corner led America Futebol Clube SP's Agostinho Rossi to fire away a dangerous shot which Diamantino Catarinense despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 76th match minute, Guará FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliézer Eger to maneuver through the defense. In the 80th play minute Fausto de Souza came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Diamantino Catarinense. 0-4. Zé Pedro de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliézer Eger in the 84th minute of the match. When Juan Ceresso fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guará FC's protests and gave Juan Ceresso a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Guará FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 85th minute. Penalty! After 86 minutes Guará FC's goalkeeper Diamantino Catarinense managed, with a little bit of luck, save Agostinho Rossi's penalty, on his right side after a tricky shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Agostinho Rossi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Diamantino Catarinense. That made the score 0-5 in the 86 minute of play. Diamantino Catarinense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nilton Sanches's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Rômulo de Sena struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Zé Pedro de Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guará FC. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Ivo Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guará FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ivo Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Pedro de Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The America Futebol Clube SP supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing America Futebol Clube SP would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
