In the 5th minute, Romeu Diniz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 7 minutes into the match, Atlético Capixaba's Dieguinho Barros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Patrick Miranda narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Patrick Miranda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernandinho França, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 11 minutes of play, Atlético Capixaba's Fernandinho França made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Patrick Miranda was left in no man's land by his defense there! Deivid Cavalcante could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Marcelo Brito made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Deivid Cavalcante got free with Marcelo Brito in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 20 minutes into the game, Deivid Cavalcante cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Marcelo Brito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marcelo Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deivid Cavalcante, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Deivid Cavalcante in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelo Brito saved Atlético Capixaba from getting behind. After some careless play in the Olivedos defense, Fernandinho França kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patrick Miranda. The Olivedos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrick Miranda should have stopped the shot. 34 minutes into the game, Deivid Cavalcante cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Marcelo Brito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 37th minute, Olivedos's Durval Simões dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. Marcelo Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edson Mendes in the 42nd minute of the match. Dieguinho Barros's late challenge caught a Olivedos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dieguinho Barros helped the player get up and apologised. Dieguinho Barros hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Olivedos's Patrick Miranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernandinho França in the 48th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-2 at half-time.

After 53 minutes, Carlos Augusto de Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olivedos and the Atlético Capixaba players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Capixaba's zone, Paulo Renato Galvão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelo Brito came out of the goal and Paulo Renato Galvão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 89th match minute, Atlético Capixaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Rosado to maneuver through the defense. 90 minutes into the game, Olivedos's Durval Simões nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcelo Brito made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-2. For all the effort they put into the match, the Atlético Capixaba players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Olivedos.
