In the 5th minute Ronaldo Joinvilense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo Zanussi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 6 minutes into the match, Ronaldo Joinvilense had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Erasmo Zanussi. Militros F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronaldo Joinvilense was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 10 played minutes Militros F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Samuca Recife. Ronaldo Joinvilense struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Erasmo Zanussi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galo do Japi. In the 13th minute of the match, Paulão Freire tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Armando Sabino saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Armando Sabino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Freire, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After 22 played minutes Galo do Japi got a freekick which was hit by Cícero Montenegro. Armando Sabino made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Paulão Freire sent off a good shot on target. Militros F.C.'s Erasmo Zanussi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldo Joinvilense in the 26th minute of play. If Dudu Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute of the match, Paulão Freire tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Armando Sabino saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Armando Sabino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulão Freire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Fernandinho Pinheiro made a precise shot to the right of Erasmo Zanussi. Militros F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Paulão Freire's late challenge caught a Galo do Japi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulão Freire helped the player get up and apologised. Paulão Freire kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After the first half Galo do Japi were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 56 minutes, Fernandinho Pinheiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galo do Japi and the Militros F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Galo do Japi's Fernandinho Pinheiro got a free kick in the 56th minute. Joaquim da Cunha hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. When Ronaldo Joinvilense came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Galo do Japi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldo Joinvilense couldn't finish the play. Erasmo Zanussi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronaldo Joinvilense in the 62nd minute. The supporters of Galo do Japi booed when Militros F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Didi de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 86th minute of the match Galo do Japi got a corner. Militros F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Laerte Caca-Rato ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 87th match minute, Galo do Japi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandinho Pinheiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute Paulão Freire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Sabino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, Militros F.C.'s goalkeeper Erasmo Zanussi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jeferson Nóbrega. After having played for 92 minutes, Dudu Leme managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galo do Japi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dudu Leme was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Galo do Japi's attentive Dudu Leme managed to snatch the ball when Joaquim da Cunha made a throw-in in the 96th minute of the game. In the 97th play minute Jeferson Nóbrega came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Erasmo Zanussi. 0-3. Galo do Japi's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
