With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gustavo Aparecido prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute Jeremias Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Aparecido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Gaucho in the 12th minute of play forced Meninos De Cotia's goalkeeper Carlos Eduardo Corrêa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s zone, Michel Batistuta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustavo Aparecido came out of the goal and Michel Batistuta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Eduardo Corrêa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldinho Gaucho, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Miguel Botelho was the one to do the kick off. After 93 played minutes Meninos De Cotia got a freekick which was hit by Michel Batistuta. When Ronaldinho Gaucho came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldinho Gaucho couldn't finish the play. Meninos De Cotia's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ had won, even though Meninos De Cotia had held more of the ball.
