The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leonardo Arce's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Omar Fernanco during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leonardo Arce in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute Leonardo Arce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peñaloza's Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonardo Arce in the 12th minute of play. After 20 played minutes Peñaloza got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Refugio. In the 21st minute Tobias Sandaili shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, Felix Goito was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Suipacha FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peñaloza the free kick. A collision led to Suipacha FC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Felix Goito hit a great ball. Mario Brion took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonel Rayman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tobias Sandaili fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson having to interfere. Mario Brion showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basilio Lleir, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basilio Lleir got free with Mario Brion in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 39 played minutes Suipacha FC got a freekick which was hit by Tobias Sandaili. Mario Brion showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonel Rayman in the 47th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leonardo Arce was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Peñaloza's Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson got control of the ball when Tobias Sandaili tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 58th minute Basilio Lleir shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Brion saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rodolfo Eguzki kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Suipacha FC's Mario Brion played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basilio Lleir in the 60th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Tobias Sandaili kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson. That made the score 0-1 in the 73 minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 82nd minute by Tobias Sandaili got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 84 minutes into the match, Suipacha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Rayman came free, but Mario Brion reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mario Brion made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonel Rayman in the 89th minute of play. Basilio Lleir struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Mario Brion didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peñaloza. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leonardo Arce in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gunnvaldur Ásbergsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
