The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Mario Lauaxeta charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mario Lauaxeta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 3rd match minute, Deportivo Medievales was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mario Lauaxeta to maneuver through the defense. 7 minutes into the match, Mario Lauaxeta notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Candelaria FC's Gustavo Galindo. Gustavo Galindo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Deportivo Medievales booed when Candelaria FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Peli didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Valentin Benitez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Medievales's supporters rose to their feet, but Valentin Benitez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustavo Galindo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 14th minute, Gualterio Niguel made a precise shot to the right of Gustavo Galindo. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marco Peli got free with Atilano Pirmin in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lorenzo Candelario struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Atilano Pirmin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Candelaria FC. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aureliano Izotz to strike the kick off in the second half. When Marco Peli came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Candelaria FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco Peli couldn't finish the play. In the 56th match minute, Deportivo Medievales was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mario Lauaxeta to maneuver through the defense. In the 60th minute Marco Peli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Atilano Pirmin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Deportivo Medievales defense, Aureliano Izotz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Atilano Pirmin. The Deportivo Medievales fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Atilano Pirmin should have stopped the shot. If Mario Lauaxeta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gualterio Niguel got free with Gustavo Galindo in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 71st minute, Deportivo Medievales's Mario Lauaxeta dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. After a defensive mix-up in Candelaria FC's zone, Mario Lauaxeta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustavo Galindo came out of the goal and Mario Lauaxeta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mario Lauaxeta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Galindo having to interfere. Deportivo Medievales's Mario Lauaxeta got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Lauaxeta in the 88th minute of play forced Candelaria FC's goalkeeper Gustavo Galindo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Deportivo Medievales getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Delmar Ipar hit a great ball. In the 95thth minute of the game Gualterio Niguel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Candelaria FC's Gustavo Galindo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
