The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lucio Soin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 2nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Herminio Lastur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serafin Froylan, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 9th minute, Narciso Eriz made a precise shot to the right of Herminio Lastur. Mechita F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 17th minute of the match, Serafin Froylan tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Herminio Lastur saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 18th minute of the match Feliberto Cedro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but René Higuita skillfully saved the ball. Uriel Ihintza scored 1-2 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of René Higuita, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Herminio Lastur made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Narciso Eriz sent off a good shot on target. The referee felt a red card was in order, 31 minutes into the game, when Feliberto Cedro put in a rough tackle. The audience thought a goal was coming when Serafin Froylan got free with Herminio Lastur in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Herminio Lastur stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Serafin Froylan's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Herminio Lastur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucio Soin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 56 minutes Mechita F.C's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Mauricio Cordera who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Serafin Froylan almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Mechita F.C's Herminio Lastur did a great save. In the 60th match minute, Mechita F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marciano Oihenarte to maneuver through the defense. Herminio Lastur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serafin Froylan in the 64th minute of the match. Herminio Lastur stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Serafin Froylan's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Serafin Froylan notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Mechita F.C's Herminio Lastur. Herminio Lastur was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. René Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marciano Oihenarte in the 71st minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Mechita F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Eriz came free, but Herminio Lastur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Angel Calisto made a precise shot to the right of Herminio Lastur. Mechita F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Modesto Paez kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Mechita F.C's Herminio Lastur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Eriz in the 87th minute of play. A collision led to Mechita F.C getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Gilberto Banegas hit a great ball. Mauricio Cordera took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Herminio Lastur. Mechita F.C's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
