In the 6th minute, Newells Old Boys's Mingo Torrente dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, Espinillos AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Mingo Torrente came free, but Marcial Osoitz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mingo Torrente received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marcial Osoitz came out and tried to block the shot, but Mingo Torrente slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 15th minute. In the 20th minute Marcial Prejun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Froilan Rafe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Domingo Lehior came free, but Froilan Rafe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcial Osoitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mingo Torrente, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when Espinillos AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rene Eguntsenti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Generoso Eyague's late challenge caught a Espinillos AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. With a little luck, Espinillos AFC's Marcial Osoitz got control of the ball when Guillermo Ovando tried to sneak it across the goal line.
