The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute Gustavo Isazi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christopher Hawthorne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christopher Hawthorne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Isazi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anastasio Playo kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Quilmes's Domingos Savier threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Geronimo Sagrario, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 22 minutes into the match, Northern California's goal looked a bit too open when Edgardo Ugutz came free, but Domingos Savier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Domingos Savier made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donato Nuxila in the 26th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luciano Goizeder in the 29th minute of play forced Quilmes's goalkeeper Christopher Hawthorne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute Aurelio Berdoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christopher Hawthorne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgardo Ugutz hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Christopher Hawthorne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Isazi in the 44th minute of play. After 46 minutes of play, Northern California's Gustavo Isazi made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christopher Hawthorne was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Quilmes's Rodrigo Delfino was substituted for Donato Nuxila. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geronimo Sagrario to make the kick off. Aurelio Berdoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christopher Hawthorne having to interfere. In the 57th minute Geronimo Sagrario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingos Savier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustavo Isazi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Aurelio Berdoi scored 0-2 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Christopher Hawthorne, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 63rd minute of the match, Gustavo Isazi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Christopher Hawthorne saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 65th minute Northern California were awarded a corner. Aurelio Berdoi went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Northern California's Pablo Henrico getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Christopher Hawthorne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Isazi in the 74th minute of play. In the 75th minute Geronimo Sagrario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingos Savier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Northern California's Silverio Cordarius got a free kick in the 78th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Northern California's Gustavo Isazi slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Christopher Hawthorne. That made the score 0-3 after 83 minutes of play.
