Mauro Risel charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mauro Risel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 11 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's goal looked a bit too open when Luli Lulev came free, but Jairo Collador reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 17 minutes into the game, when Mateo Cancel put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 16th minute of the game. One of Liga de Quito:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Monitor Huáscar:s goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilabert Ruega in the 21st minute of play forced Liga de Quito's goalkeeper Jairo Collador to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Monitor Huáscar's Luli Lulev sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jairo Collador narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 26th minute Gilabert Ruega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jairo Collador saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilabert Ruega in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jairo Collador saved Liga de Quito from getting behind. Liga de Quito's Jairo Collador played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilabert Ruega in the 34th minute of play. Nestor Ibaute kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After having played for 38 minutes, Gilabert Ruega managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monitor Huáscar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilabert Ruega was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jairo Collador showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilabert Ruega in the 40th minute of the match. Vidal Cismado's late challenge caught a Monitor Huáscar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vidal Cismado helped the player get up and apologised. After 41 played minutes Liga de Quito got a freekick which was hit by Vidal Cismado. If Luli Lulev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Gilabert Ruega had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jairo Collador. Liga de Quito's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilabert Ruega was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nestor Ibaute to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Felipe Tobalina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urbano Pacio in the 55th minute of play forced Monitor Huáscar's goalkeeper Ferman Basabe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 59 minutes into the game, Eduardo Mascareñas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liga de Quito's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Monitor Huáscar the free kick. In the 58th minute, one of Liga de Quito:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Liga de Quito. The goalkeeper, Jairo Collador, was totally fooled by Monitor Huáscar's Gilabert Ruega, who 61 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Jairo Collador showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Konstantinos Rivadeneyra in the 67th minute of the match. With a little luck, Liga de Quito's Jairo Collador got control of the ball when Gilabert Ruega tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Konstantinos Rivadeneyra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jairo Collador was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Ildephonso Fuertehijar was slow to take the kick. During this time Monitor Huáscar's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Monitor Huáscar's Gilabert Ruega getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Jairo Collador showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Konstantinos Rivadeneyra, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After 94 minutes, Velasco Ilarraza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Liga de Quito and the Monitor Huáscar players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Monitor Huáscar booed when Liga de Quito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Velasco Ilarraza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Konstantinos Rivadeneyra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Gilabert Ruega came up free with the goalie in the 99th minute, the Monitor Huáscar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilabert Ruega couldn't finish the play. The Liga de Quito fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Monitor Huáscar were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
