After some careless play in the Club Deportes Santa Cruz defense, Carlos José Opazo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Teodosio Cerda. The Club Deportes Santa Cruz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Teodosio Cerda should have stopped the shot. A collision led to FC Anderlecht Huachipato getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Alexandrino Gameiro hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elazar Dighero got free with Serbülent Baysan in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Teodosio Cerda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos José Opazo in the 76th minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC Anderlecht Huachipato's Alexandrino Gameiro got a free kick in the 79th minute. 82 minutes into the game, Alexandrino Gameiro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Teodosio Cerda. Alexandrino Gameiro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. The FC Anderlecht Huachipato fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. 94 minutes into the game, Aurelio Antonioletti was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Anderlecht Huachipato the free kick.
