The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 11th minute Ciceron Valdivielso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Pedro Owen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Xulián Artaño could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Phelipe Escarza made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Popolizio FBC's zone, Anacleto Tirado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phelipe Escarza came out of the goal and Anacleto Tirado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 17th minute, Ciceron Valdivielso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aldo Popolizio in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juan Pedro Owen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Juan Pedro Owen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciceron Valdivielso in the 25th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Aldo Popolizio made a precise shot to the right of Juan Pedro Owen. CRUZ DEL SUR's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. José Ignacio Berguecio kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. 34 minutes into the match, Aldo Popolizio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juan Pedro Owen. CRUZ DEL SUR's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aldo Popolizio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lonzo Corullon in the 37th minute of play forced CRUZ DEL SUR's goalkeeper Juan Pedro Owen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juan Pedro Owen came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo Popolizio FBC's Aldo Popolizio. But to his dismay, Aldo Popolizio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 45 minutes into the match, CRUZ DEL SUR's goal looked a bit too open when Ciceron Valdivielso came free, but Juan Pedro Owen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute Ciceron Valdivielso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Pedro Owen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Pedro Owen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciceron Valdivielso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Deportivo Popolizio FBC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aaron Zamorano was the one to do the kick off. Phelipe Escarza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aaron Zamorano, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 53rd minute, Deportivo Popolizio FBC's Gilesindo Colombres seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gilesindo Colombres the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Deportivo Popolizio FBC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gilesindo Colombres had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 53 minutes into the game, one of Deportivo Popolizio FBC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Phelipe Escarza had in the 56thth minute some difficulties stopping Aaron Zamorano's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 1-3 came in the 56th minute when Aaron Zamorano all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Phelipe Escarza. After 59 minutes, Aldo Popolizio made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. CRUZ DEL SUR's Juan Pedro Owen tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Juan Pedro Owen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aldo Popolizio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Deportivo Popolizio FBC's Lonzo Corullon slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Juan Pedro Owen. That made the score 1-5 after 65 minutes of play. After 69 played minutes CRUZ DEL SUR got a freekick which was hit by Marc Pedraza. After 72 minutes, Xulián Artaño mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CRUZ DEL SUR and the Deportivo Popolizio FBC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 72nd minute, Xulián Artaño hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Gianluca Popolizio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juan Pedro Owen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lonzo Corullon in the 86th minute. With a little luck, CRUZ DEL SUR's Juan Pedro Owen got control of the ball when Lonzo Corullon tried to sneak it across the goal line. 87 minutes into the match, Lonzo Corullon dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Juan Pedro Owen, 1-6. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Popolizio FBC's Gianluca Popolizio got a free kick in the 94th minute. Cesareo Milla hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. The supporters of Deportivo Popolizio FBC booed when CRUZ DEL SUR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anacleto Tirado didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Deportivo Popolizio FBC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
