When Anton Coulombe fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Lisboa e Benfica's protests and gave Anton Coulombe a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Sport Lisboa e Benfica getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Anton Coulombe hit a great ball. Clark Gagnon hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. In the 14th minute, Tadeo Ignado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marco Beauchesne was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The corner was taken by Dominic Hahn in the 21st minute. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Anton Coulombe was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nemesio Abella in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Antonia Webb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28thth minute of the game Antonia Webb who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but River CBBA's Nemesio Abella was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Lisboa e Benfica's zone, Tadeo Ignado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marco Beauchesne came out of the goal and Tadeo Ignado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 31st minute Manual Hope shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nemesio Abella saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes into the game, Manual Hope was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave River CBBA the free kick. The supporters of River CBBA booed when Sport Lisboa e Benfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manual Hope didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tadeo Ignado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Manual Hope fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nemesio Abella having to interfere. In the 55th match minute, Sport Lisboa e Benfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marquis Hopper to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute of the match Reinaldo Merlo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marco Beauchesne showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Carlton Andrade replaced Anton Coulombe. 65 minutes in the game Fernanco Abarca did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Tadeo Ignado. 66 minutes into the game, Fabián Basualdo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. River CBBA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sport Lisboa e Benfica the free kick. In the 66th match minute, River CBBA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabián Basualdo to maneuver through the defense. River CBBA made a substitution.
