In the 4th minute Milton Umaña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brice Leach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 7th minute, Milton Umaña hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 10 played minutes GuateFortín got a freekick which was hit by Sebastião Madureira. Gale Laliberté took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 11th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carlos Navarro Montoya. GuateFortín's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 17 played minutes GuateFortín got a freekick which was hit by Victor Valenzuela. In the 18th minute, Douglas Ayala hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Varennes defense, Milton Umaña kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brice Leach. The Varennes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brice Leach should have stopped the shot. After 24 played minutes GuateFortín got a freekick which was hit by Victor Valenzuela. GuateFortín's Carlos Navarro Montoya proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save GuateFortín from getting a goal against them. Ellsworth Lindsay's late challenge caught a GuateFortín's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ellsworth Lindsay helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st minute Milton Umaña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brice Leach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Milton Umaña in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brice Leach saved Varennes from getting behind. After 39 minutes, Patricio Alvarado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GuateFortín and the Varennes players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ellsworth Lindsay in the 41st minute of play forced GuateFortín's goalkeeper Carlos Navarro Montoya to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half GuateFortín were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Loic Deal made the kick off in the second half. When Milton Umaña was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 50 minutes had been played. With a little luck, Varennes's Brice Leach got control of the ball when Julio Asad tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 59th minute of the match GuateFortín got a corner. Varennes's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Abraham Santamaria ran over to the corner to take the kick. Brice Leach took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Alvarado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brice Leach made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Julio Asad sent off a good shot on target. In the 73rd match minute, GuateFortín was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastião Madureira to maneuver through the defense. GuateFortín made a substitution. Félix Moreno replaced Victor Valenzuela. Sebastião Madureira kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Gale Laliberté got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Varennes's goal looked a bit too open when Abraham Santamaria came free, but Brice Leach reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carlos Navarro Montoya didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ellsworth Lindsay went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 85thth minute of the game Loic Deal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GuateFortín's Carlos Navarro Montoya was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carlos Navarro Montoya showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ellsworth Lindsay, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Mateo Terciero struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Brice Leach didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GuateFortín. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mateo Terciero in the 92nd minute of play forced Varennes's goalkeeper Brice Leach to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ferenc Sárközi kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match.
