Evert Wennerquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sverker Åberg in the 5th minute of the match. 5 minutes in the game, Sverker Åberg dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After having played for 10 minutes, Arne Olofsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Öllsjö FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arne Olofsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Örjan Bryngelsson's late challenge caught a VfL Wolfsburg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Örjan Bryngelsson helped the player get up and apologised. Björn Ugla received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Wictor Kjellbom came out and tried to block the shot, but Björn Ugla slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 14th minute. When Sverker Åberg came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Öllsjö FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sverker Åberg couldn't finish the play. In the 20th minute Arne Olofsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evert Wennerquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evert Wennerquist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arne Olofsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the match, Arne Olofsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Evert Wennerquist. VfL Wolfsburg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arne Olofsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 33rd minute Arne Olofsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evert Wennerquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evert Wennerquist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Örjan Bryngelsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in VfL Wolfsburg's zone, Stig-Arne Zander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evert Wennerquist came out of the goal and Stig-Arne Zander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arne Olofsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Evert Wennerquist. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arne Olofsson ran back to his position shaking his head. Evert Wennerquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arne Olofsson in the 47th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arne Olofsson to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 62nd minute, Öllsjö FC's Herbert Ekegren seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Herbert Ekegren the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Öllsjö FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Herbert Ekegren had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 65th minute there was a penalty for VfL Wolfsburg. Björn Ugla stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Wictor Kjellbom. 2-2. After 68 played minutes Öllsjö FC got a freekick which was hit by Stig-Arne Zander. If Jens-Ove Gustafsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute Björn Ugla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wictor Kjellbom saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th minute, Bengt-Arne Löfskog hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Örjan Bryngelsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 79th minute, Björn Ugla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arne Olofsson in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evert Wennerquist saved VfL Wolfsburg from getting behind. 83 minutes into the match, Örjan Bryngelsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Evert Wennerquist.
