When Sebastian Matei fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Sportiv Medgidia's protests and gave Sebastian Matei a yellow card for diving instead. LIVERPOOL FC's Dorel Bunescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ştefan Alupulesei in the 21st minute of play. Dorel Bunescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Augustin Horea in the 23rd minute of the match. Romeo Ungur charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The supporters of Club Sportiv Medgidia booed when LIVERPOOL FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horea Mititelu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in LIVERPOOL FC's zone, Sergiu Timaru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vintilă Gherase hit a great ball. Ştefan Alupulesei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorel Bunescu having to interfere. Flavius Băieșu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Dorel Bunescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

LIVERPOOL FC's Mugur Martinaș was substituted for Remus Papaiani. The wind increased when Tudor Pintilescu made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Club Sportiv Medgidia's Flavius Băieșu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Dorel Bunescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Augustin Horea in the 64th minute of the match. 65 minutes into the game, Ştefan Alupulesei recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dorel Bunescu. Flavius Băieșu hit a great ball. In the 69th minute Martin Buteanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicu Arghirescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th match minute, Club Sportiv Medgidia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sergiu Timaru to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Ştefan Alupulesei managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Sportiv Medgidia's supporters rose to their feet, but Ştefan Alupulesei was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorel Bunescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stelian Hulubei might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dorel Bunescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stelian Hulubei ran back to his position shaking his head. After 84 played minutes LIVERPOOL FC got a freekick which was hit by Vintilă Gherase. Augustin Horea struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Dorel Bunescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Sportiv Medgidia. Club Sportiv Medgidia's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
