Carpathians's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 6 minutes into the match, Delphine Stars's goalkeeper Petruț Ţopescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Constantin Cârstea. After some careless play in the Carpathians defense, Denis Nenciu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dorin Petrică. The Carpathians fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dorin Petrică should have stopped the shot. The Delphine Stars fans' excitement grew in the 16th match minute when Delphine Stars's Costel Cobzeanu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 21 minutes into the game, Delphine Stars's Mugur Gorcea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dorin Petrică made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. The crowd rose to their feet as Vasile Socoriceanu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Petruț Ţopescu. That made the score 2-4 in the 40 minute of play. In the 46th minute Costel Cobzeanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dorin Petrică saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Costel Junilă fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carpathians's protests and gave Costel Junilă a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Carpathians getting a freekick after 49 minutes play. Costel Junilă hit a great ball. Dorin Petrică took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcel Cristache, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-4.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Emanuel Tiberiu to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Emanuel Tiberiu managed to get in a good position for a shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Dorian in the 81st minute of play forced Carpathians's goalkeeper Dorin Petrică to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dorin Petrică made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Cristian Dorian sent off a good shot on target. Ivan Niculcea hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match.
