In the 13th minute, Octav Glăvan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ASF BAIA MARE -MM- fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. When Emil Floruțiu fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s protests and gave Emil Floruțiu a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes ASF BAIA MARE -MM- got a freekick which was hit by Emil Floruțiu. A collision led to ASF BAIA MARE -MM- getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Basarab Spoială hit a great ball. In the 30th minute, Carpathians's Stelian Panaitoiu seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Stelian Panaitoiu the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Carpathians protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Stelian Panaitoiu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Carpathians fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! In the 33rd minute there was a penalty for ASF BAIA MARE -MM-. Octav Glăvan stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Iosif Vulcan. 0-3. After some careless play in the Carpathians defense, Radu Moldovan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iosif Vulcan. The Carpathians fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iosif Vulcan should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Radu Moldovan during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s Radu Moldovan got a free kick in the 39th minute. Basarab Spoială fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iosif Vulcan having to interfere. After 43 played minutes Carpathians got a freekick which was hit by Victor Păuceanu. ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s Emil Floruțiu got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vasile Socoriceanu to make the kick off. Carpathians's Iosif Vulcan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emil Floruțiu in the 51st minute of play. In the 52nd match minute, ASF BAIA MARE -MM- was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mădălin Bănățeanu to maneuver through the defense. Ivan Niculcea kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Carpathians's goal looked a bit too open when Radu Moldovan came free, but Iosif Vulcan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nae Morar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vasile Socoriceanu in the 69th minute of the match. After 71 minutes, Octav Glăvan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ASF BAIA MARE -MM- and the Carpathians players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st minute, Octav Glăvan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carpathians's Costel Junilă was substituted for Marin Marinică. After 72 played minutes ASF BAIA MARE -MM- got a freekick which was hit by Octav Glăvan. 73 minutes into the match, ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Vasile Socoriceanu came free, but Nae Morar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Octav Glăvan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the match, Carpathians's goal looked a bit too open when Basarab Spoială came free, but Iosif Vulcan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of ASF BAIA MARE -MM- booed when Carpathians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucian Giurgiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iosif Vulcan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. ASF BAIA MARE -MM- played a much better game than Carpathians and deserved their victory. The Carpathians players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
