Emanuel Giurcă was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 9 played minutes FC Fanaticii got a freekick which was hit by Emilian Lăcătușu. Emanuel Giurcă showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from János Oltean, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goal looked a bit too open when Marius Ganea came free, but Iurie Mutu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the FC Fanaticii defense, Sever Vintilescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emanuel Giurcă. The FC Fanaticii fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emanuel Giurcă should have stopped the shot. Sever Vintilescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Șerban Nanu struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Iurie Mutu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Fanaticii. When Nae Martinescu fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Academia Rio's protests and gave Nae Martinescu a yellow card for diving instead. Nae Martinescu hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Iurie Mutu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marius Ganea went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Horia Berceanu charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Horia Berceanu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Fanaticii booed when Academia Rio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horia Berceanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute of the match Olimpiu Panait sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Iurie Mutu skillfully saved the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sever Vintilescu to strike the kick off in the second half. Marius Ganea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iurie Mutu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Marius Ganea notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Academia Rio's Iurie Mutu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olimpiu Panait in the 73rd minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Iurie Mutu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Fanaticii's Emanuel Giurcă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sever Vintilescu in the 75th minute of play. Iurie Mutu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mugurel Bărăian, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 82 minutes into the match, FC Fanaticii's goalkeeper Emanuel Giurcă had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sever Vintilescu. When %teams%'s János Oltean was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 2-3 just inside the left pole, 85 minutes into the game. Emanuel Giurcă was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. When the match was over Academia Rio could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Fanaticii throughout the match.
